LAS VEGAS – Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd, will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original release of The Wall with a monumental tour including a stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Friday, Nov. 26. The Thanksgiving weekend show, scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., will feature a full band and a newly mounted state-of-the-art production of his ‘masterpiece of alienation and transformation’ performed in its entirety.
Tickets priced at $250, $125 and $75, not including applicable service charges and taxes, are now on sale and are available at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith’s Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino). Ticket sales are limited to eight (8) per person. To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Tickets also are available for purchase at www.mgmgrand.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
The Wall previously has been performed live in its entirety by Waters only 31 times including Pink Floyd’s 1980-81 tour in support of the album. A spectacular Waters’ solo staging and performance of the rock opera in July 1990 at Potsdamer Platz, celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall, drew nearly 500,000 fans.
Originally released in November 1979, The Wall was America’s top-selling album in 1980, is one of the top-selling double albums of all time, and remains in the Top 5 of the best-selling albums in the United States. In 1982, The Wall was made into a metaphorical musical film directed by Alan Parker with the screenplay written by Waters. One of the most profoundly influential albums in the history of recorded music, The Wall continues to affect pop culture while resonating with generations of music fans worldwide.
In 1980, the New York Times declared, “The Wall show remains a milestone in rock history; it will be the touchstone against which all future rock spectacles must be measured.” For complete tour and ticket information, visit www.RogerWaters.com.
